Action Research Training 2020

Ethnographic Action Research Training at Klaipėda University 2020

In 2020 June – November the 36 hour training “Ethnographic Action Research” guided by prof. dr. Audra Skukauskaitė took place at Klaipėda University. Due to the Covid –19 situation, it was provided by distance learning. The training was carried out within the implementation of the project “A Research of the Training of Specialists to Provide fully Assistance to Persons with Disabilities in the Health Care System Enhancing the Competences of Researchers“, financed according to the 9 priority “Educating the Society and Strengthening the Potential of Human Resources” of the 2014-2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds Investments in Lithuania. The training was completed by 80 participants; many of them were lecturers, doctors, doctoral students, and other participants of educational organizations. Prof. dr. Audronė Skukauskaitė presented the peculiarities of ethnographic action research, the historical context of its emergence, the possible implementation of action research in practice. Participants not only read articles on the action research topics but also did various tasks, created an action research plan. Dr. Inci Yilmazli shared ethical insights on doing action research. Doctors Marius Kalinauskas and Inga Bartus reviewed the practical applicability of action research based on their dissertations. The training was not only interesting but also practically useful.

Discourse Analysis Training 2019-2021

2019 – 2021 (two years) Discourse analysis trainings were held, led by prof. dr. Deivydas Bloom (Ohio University, USA) Liudmila Rupšienė (Klaipeda University, Lithuania) and prof. dr. Rūta Girdzijauskienė (Klaipeda University, Lithuania). The training was attended by the academic community from various Lithuanian universities. The participants of the training could listen to prof. dr. David Bloom (Ohio University, USA) lectures, real and virtual, and learning from one of the best discourse analysis expert. The training took place in a contact way, but due to the COVID-19 situation, they moved to a virtual space. Training took place 2 times a month. During the training, David Bloom’s lectures were discussed, and discourse articles were read, analyzed and written. The training participants enjoyed the training, which was both interesting and practical.
