11 of February is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated worldwide. It highlights the importance of science and gender equality in achieving the internationally agreed Sustainable Development Goals. The day has been celebrated since 2015, when the United Nations adopted a resolution in the General Assembly to designate 11 February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science in order to ensure the full and equal participation of women and girls in science, to accelerate the implementation of gender equality and to increase women’s participation in science.
