A brief annotation is presented below.

The doctoral dissertation “A framework for learning mathematical reasoning in primary school students” complements, refines and integrates the previous research on mathematical activities in mathematics classrooms that can have a positive impact on mathematical reasoning learning.
The theoretically-based framework for mathematical reasoning learning for primary school pupils comprises the interacting subsystems of reasoning, understanding, assessment. The components of the subsystems are activities that have a fundamental impact on the quality of mathematical reasoning learning: guiding questions; collaboration; reasoning; visualisation of mathematical content; linking of mathematical facts; analysis of pupils’ existing/acquired knowledge; evaluation/assessment of solutions; evaluation of changes in reasoning.
The functioning of the constructed system was empirically tested in a participatory action research. The learning of mathematical reasoning by pupils in Grades 1 – 2 was investigated in a sequential manner (in each lesson, in each curriculum content of the general curriculum). Two mixed-methods strategies were used to analyse the data: triangulation and exploratory. It was found that systematic learning of mathematical reasoning significantly changes the understanding of mathematical content.
